Short description
Build and run a camping music festival for 45,000 people in the woods. Zone the campgrounds, book the stages, staff the gates, and keep a crowd that moves like a fluid from crushing itself. Every guest is simulated, from their squad and totem to their bladder. Starring: wooks.
Description
Terraform a field, zone parking and campgrounds, place stages, fence the venue, staff the gates and build Main Street. Then the cars arrive. Every guest is simulated: they come with a squad, a favourite genre, a few artists they came for, a cooler, a bladder and a sleep debt. They plan their walk to the gates around the set times, queue for the porta-potties, eat from the cooler until the ice runs out, and all leave at the same moment when the music stops.
The crowd moves like a fluid, built on the density numbers real event-safety planners use. At 4 people per square metre it’s a warning; at 5 nobody can move on their own. Searches, fences, barricades, exits, medical, free water and the weather hold are your tools. The game is funny and affectionate about festival culture, and serious about crowd safety: the death and medical text is never a joke.
Inspired by real 45,000-person forest festivals, WookLands includes a true-scale benchmark festival: 45,000 guests in 15,700 cars over five days, from Wednesday load-in to the Monday exodus, plus real-world maps built from elevation data and OpenStreetMap.
Features
- Build a whole festival site: terrain, roads, footpaths, parking, campgrounds, stages, fences, gates, guard towers, Main Street.
- Crowd physics with real thresholds: stage capacity at 2/m², egress at 82 people per metre per minute against an 8-minute target.
- Squads and totems, set-hopping, bass-drop surges, and friends getting lost in a crowd of thousands.
- Gate searches, contraband, ticketless wooks and fence-hoppers.
- Care: medical, free water, sanctuary and drug checking, with heat, hydration and substances modelled on published research.
- Porta-potty queues, tanks and the honey wagon; food trucks, the general store and the great cooler-ice crisis of day three.
- Car traffic with flaggers and highway backups; car camping laid out site by site.
- Weather: mud, wind, lightning, and the weather hold you have to decide when to call.
- Camp life: sleep, renegade sets, the pregame and the camp stove.
- Speed from real time to x1000, and an auto-play bot that builds a well-run festival or a death trap.
